About Our Department
Children may be referred when developmental milestones are delayed, communication or social interaction differs from expected patterns, learning or attention is difficult, behaviour causes concern or a neurological or genetic condition affects everyday functioning. Evaluation combines a detailed medical and developmental history with observation, physical examination, standardised assessment tools and input from parents, teachers and therapists. Where needed, targeted investigations help clarify the diagnosis. Care may include parent guidance, medical or behavioural management, developmental monitoring and referral to speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, neurology or other specialists. The department aims to identify needs early, build on each child’s strengths and improve participation, independence and quality of life.
