Patients arrive with trauma, severe pain, breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, cardiac emergencies, altered consciousness, bleeding or other acute concerns. Triage is followed by rapid clinical assessment, vital-sign monitoring and targeted tests such as ECG, blood analysis, ultrasound, X-ray or CT. Treatment may include resuscitation, airway support, medicines, wound closure, fracture management, urgent procedures and coordinated specialist admission. The department's priority is to recognise time-critical illness quickly, stabilise the patient safely and establish the most appropriate next stage of care.
