Green Initiatives

Masina Hospital installed a 44.8 (kWp) Solar rooftop plant in 2017. This initiative reduced the monthly electricity bill at the facility by an average of 2800 units per month, which resulted in monthly savings of over INR 30,000. The electricity generated from these panels is powering up the Hospital's Main Building, ICU, and Operation Theatres and has made economic sense as well. Masina Hospital has associated with Sterling & Wilson Pvt Ltd. to install this solar project. 

Masina Hospital solar panels are spread across 364 sq. ms and generate approximately about 147 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per day. On a bright sunny day, the power generated by a single solar panel can reach up to 176kWh and can drop up to 45kWh during the monsoon days. This renewable energy source helps us cope with the high demands of electric consumption

Since the inception of our Bio-Compost plant, our waste has been separated into wet, recyclable dry waste, and medical waste.  Our Waste Management Team has been trained by Stree Mukti Sangathana in Composting and Bio-methanation. We treat approximately 350 kg of wet waste per day.

The next step at Masina Hospital was to convert our bio-waste to biogas. A new Biogas plant has been installed. Now more than 500 kgs of sewage is treated at site and cooking gas worth one domestic cylinder a day is generated as a result. This is truly an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution. 

In 2018, the Masina Hospital Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) was commissioned and made operational and in 2020 an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) was also commissioned at Masina Hospital. The plants are connected to the hospital for use in the non-portable water requirements (not used for drinking purposes).
