Patients may present with sudden weakness, seizures, tremor, headache, memory change, dizziness, numbness or difficulty walking. A detailed neurological examination is supported as needed by MRI or CT, EEG, EMG, nerve-conduction studies, blood tests or lumbar puncture to establish the cause. Care may include medication, risk-factor management, botulinum toxin treatment, a vagus nerve stimulator or coordinated rehabilitation and neurosurgical referral.
