Pedeatric Rheumatology
The Pediatric Rheumatology Department at Masina Hospital provides specialised evaluation and care for children with inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions affecting the joints, muscles and connective tissues. The department focuses on early diagnosis, careful monitoring and long-term management to support a child’s growth, mobility and overall wellbeing.
We recognise that chronic pain, stiffness or unexplained symptoms in a child can be distressing for families. Our approach is centred on clear communication, thoughtful clinical judgement and age-appropriate care delivered in a supportive environment.
The department manages a wide range of pediatric rheumatologic and musculoskeletal conditions, including juvenile inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders, autoimmune conditions and other systemic illnesses that require ongoing assessment and follow-up. Each child is evaluated in detail, with attention to symptoms, physical findings and appropriate investigations to ensure accurate diagnosis.
Treatment plans are individualised based on the child’s condition, age and overall health, with the aim of reducing inflammation and pain, preserving joint function and supporting normal daily activity.
Care often involves long-term monitoring and timely adjustment of therapy as the child grows. The department works closely with General Pediatrics and other specialties to provide coordinated care in complex cases. Families are kept informed through regular reviews and clear discussions, helping them understand the condition, treatment options and expected outcomes, and enabling them to actively support their child’s health and development.
